Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Allen, Marks, then Bernard.

By the WaiverWire crew.

Two backfields are open. The Jets' opening is two weeks old. Houston's opened Sunday.

Points are half-PPR. Share prices are Tuesday's board. Claims run Wednesday morning. Seattle plays Thursday night. If a name went in the first eight or nine rounds, assume he's rostered.

The 20-second version

  • Braelon Allen, RB, NYJ. FAAB $10. Exchange $9.11. Cut to $4 if Hall practices in full Wednesday.
  • Woody Marks, RB, HOU. FAAB $8. Exchange $7.87. Cut to $3 if Montgomery practices in full Wednesday.
  • Germie Bernard, WR, PIT. FAAB $6. Exchange $6.67. Nine targets. Pittman is on IR.
  • Isaiah Likely, TE, NYG. FAAB $6. Exchange $11.05. Check your league. Thirteen targets.
  • Emanuel Wilson, RB, SEA. FAAB $4. Exchange $7.47. Thursday night.

The reasons are below.

Last week's book

Ranked five: 1 hit, 0 pushes, 4 misses. The misses are on us. How we count: a hit is when the points arrived (roughly 12 or more in half-PPR), a push is when the role held but the points didn't, and a miss is neither.

Off the ranked list, where we were right:

  • Braelon Allen, the hold, scored 18.1. If you didn't get him, he's first on this week's list.
  • The dips. Trey McBride scored 17.1. Garrett Wilson scored 19.9. Ja'Marr Chase played and scored 16.7.

The ranked five, misses first:

  • Miss: Kyle Monangai, our number two. No Week 5 line. Our tag says questionable, toe. D'Andre Swift played 58% of the snaps and scored 15.3. Hold Monangai if you can wait on the toe. Cut him if you need the spot Sunday.
  • Miss: Will Shipley. Snaps fell to 21%, 7.8 points, and he's doubtful with a foot injury. Dameon Pierce played 77% of the snaps and scored 2.2, so don't pivot to him.
  • Miss: Keon Coleman. Two targets, 7.2 points, and the points were a touchdown. D.J. Moore is still questionable and he didn't play, so the opening was there. Coleman didn't take it.
  • Miss: T.J. Hockenson. Concussion, 3% of the snaps, 1.2 points. Justin Jefferson played and scored 15.8. Minnesota is on bye, so this is a hold, not a cut.
  • Hit: Emanuel Wilson. 59% of the snaps, 20 carries for 61 yards, 2 catches for 11 yards, a touchdown, and a lost fumble, 12.2 points. Zach Charbonnet is still on the reserve list.

The next six went 1 hit, 1 push, 4 misses. Cooper hit again (14.1) on 3 targets and another long touchdown. Williams pushed (68% of the snaps, 4.6). Harvey (0.7), Meyers (2.2), Mayer (0.7), and TeSlaa (no Week 5 line) missed.

All eleven names: 2 hits, 1 push, 8 misses.

Buy: ranked claims ($100 FAAB)

1. Braelon Allen, RB, NYJ. FAAB $10. Exchange $9.11.
The usage: 86% of the snaps, 24 carries, 116 yards, a touchdown, 18.1 points, after 94% the week before.
The opening: Breece Hall is still questionable with a quad injury, and he has no Week 5 line. If he practices in full Wednesday and your claim hasn't run, cut the bid to $4.
Around pick 164 on our board, so he should still be on most wires. Jets at New England, Sunday 1pm ET.

2. Woody Marks, RB, HOU. FAAB $8. Exchange $7.87.
The usage: 85% of the snaps, up from 44%. 15 carries, 62 yards, 4 catches, 10.5 points. No touchdown.
The opening: David Montgomery is doubtful with a groin injury. He played 14% of the snaps and scored 1.1. If he practices in full Wednesday and your claim hasn't run, cut the bid to $3.
Check your league. Our boards have him between pick 140 and pick 160. Texans at Jacksonville, Sunday 9:30am ET in London, so set him Saturday.

3. Germie Bernard, WR, PIT. FAAB $6. Exchange $6.67.
The usage: 92% of the snaps, up from 40%. 9 targets, 6 catches for 80 yards, plus 4 rushing yards, 11.4 points.
The opening: Michael Pittman is on injured reserve (foot). Roman Wilson is out (finger). We don't have a return date on Wilson, so this bid is for this week.
The room: DK Metcalf still played 92% of the snaps. Bernard didn't take his job. Bernard led the team in targets, 9 to Metcalf's 4. Don't dump Metcalf to claim him. Metcalf's share fell to $7.31.
Around pick 169 on our board. Steelers at Tampa Bay, Sunday 1pm ET.

4. Isaiah Likely, TE, NYG. FAAB $6. Exchange $11.05.
The usage: 80% of the snaps, 13 targets, 11 catches, 94 yards, two touchdowns, 26.9 points. The week before was 12 targets. Even without the scores, 11 catches is the job.
The bid: the share jumped on the touchdowns, from $7.02 to $11.05. $6 is for the targets, and for the chance he's actually sitting there.
Around pick 106 on our board, so check your league before you bid. If he's rostered, skip to Wilson. Giants host New Orleans, Sunday 1pm ET.

5. Emanuel Wilson, RB, SEA. FAAB $4. Exchange $7.47.
The usage: the job held. 59% of the snaps, 20 carries for 61 yards, 2 catches for 11 yards, a touchdown, a lost fumble, 12.2 points. Holani still took 41%, so it isn't a monopoly.
The clock: Charbonnet is still on the reserve list, and Jadarian Price is still on injured reserve. The bid is $4, not last week's $12, because the job is known. Seahawks at Denver, Thursday 8:15pm ET.

If those five are gone

In this order. All are Wednesday-morning claims. Cincinnati, Miami, Detroit, and Minnesota are on bye, so nobody from those teams is on this list.

  • Pat Freiermuth, TE, PIT. FAAB $3. Exchange $10.62. 68% of the snaps, 7 targets, 44 yards, two touchdowns, 19.0. The share jumped on the scores. Pay for the targets. Same game as Bernard.
  • Efton Chism, WR, NE. FAAB $3. Exchange $6.15. 76% of the snaps, up from 45%. 6 targets, 8.4 points. Patriots host the Jets, Sunday 1pm ET.
  • Brenton Strange, TE, JAX. FAAB $3. Exchange $8.20. 81% of the snaps and 8 targets for a second straight week, 10.3 points. A floor, which is why the bid stays under the share. Same London kickoff as Marks.
  • Tyjae Spears, RB, TEN. FAAB $2. Exchange $2.99. 9 catches on 9 targets, 28 yards, 5.3 points, and only 2 carries. Titans at Indianapolis, Sunday 1pm ET.
  • Darius Cooper, WR, PHI. FAAB $2. Exchange $9.57. 86% of the snaps, 3 targets, 14.1 points, mostly one long touchdown. DeVonta Smith is questionable (hamstring) and didn't play. Don't pay the share. Eagles host Carolina, Sunday 1pm ET.
  • Josh Downs, WR, IND. FAAB $2. Exchange $5.62. 85% of the snaps, 6 targets, 6.2 points. Around pick 137, so check your league. Colts host Tennessee, Sunday 1pm ET.

Also on the board

  • Stash, not a start: Jonah Coleman, RB, DEN. FAAB $3. Exchange $6.51. On IR with an ankle sprain. He last played Week 2 (10 carries, 13.3 points) and he can't play Thursday. We don't have a return date. Claim him only if you have an injured-reserve spot. We bid him up in Week 3 and he went on IR, so this is $3, not another big number. J.K. Dobbins just led that backfield (18 carries, 14.4), so this is a ticket on a return, not an empty job.
  • Quarterback, if you need one: Jameis Winston, NYG. 7th among quarterbacks this week, 326 yards, 3 touchdowns, 25.7 points, after 8th last week (20.0). Giants host New Orleans Sunday at 1pm ET, the same game as Likely. Malik Willis is on bye, so he isn't the stream.
  • Kicker: Dominic Zvada, K, NYG. FAAB $1. Exchange $9.83, up from $8.88. 10.0 points. Same Giants game.
  • Not chasing: Kimani Vidal. The other lists have him high. He scored 12.1 on a long touchdown, on 8 carries and 42% of the snaps. Omarion Hampton had 14 carries. Keaton Mitchell played 34%. Same split as last week.
  • Not chasing: DeMario Douglas and Kyle Williams. 20.5 and 16.6 points, on 49% and 36% of the snaps. If you want a Patriot, it's Chism.
  • Not chasing: Kendrick Bourne. 8 targets and 70 yards, on 49% of the snaps. Michael Wilson played 84%.
  • Not chasing: Perine or Miller. Perine scored 14.8, and Cincinnati is on bye, with Chase Brown still at 60% of the snaps. Miller had 10 carries, 30 yards, and 31% of the snaps.

Trade for / buy the dip

  • Chris Olave, WR, NO. Exchange $13.74, down from $16.62. 91% of the snaps, 6 targets, 6.6 points. Updated projection 13.8 a game. Saints at Giants, Sunday 1pm ET, so the window closes at kickoff.
  • George Kittle, TE, SF. Exchange $10.14, down from $12.36. 92% of the snaps, 6 targets, 4.9 points. Updated projection 9.8 a game. 49ers host Washington, Monday 8:15pm ET.
  • Harold Fannin, TE, CLE. Exchange $6.00, down from $8.98. 93% of the snaps, 4 targets, 1 catch, 0.9 points. Updated projection 9.1 a game. Around pick 88, so check your league. Browns host Baltimore, Sunday 1pm ET.

Sell / Drop

  • RJ Harvey, RB, DEN. Cut him if you claimed him last week. Targets went from 10 to 1, and he scored 0.7. J.K. Dobbins led the backfield (18 carries, 14.4 points). The projection still says 7.8 a game. The targets say otherwise.
  • Will Shipley, RB, PHI. Doubtful, foot. We don't have a timeline. If you have an injured-reserve spot, use it. If you need the roster spot this week, he's the cut. Don't replace him with Pierce.
  • Kenyon Sadiq, TE, NYJ. 19% of the snaps, 2 catches, minus 0.7 points, and he's questionable with a concussion. Cut him if you already have a better tight end. Don't cut him to chase Hockenson this week.

On the Exchange

Marks at $7.87 is the share to look at if you're trading rather than claiming. The snaps are a lead back's. The points aren't, yet. The risk is Montgomery practicing in full. Allen moved from $6.78 to $9.11.
